This is the opportunity to knit yourself a pair of SOCKS! This 3-part series teaches you to:
• Knit in the round Using the Magic Loop Method
• Learn several different decreasing methods
• Pick up stitches
• Turn a sock heel
• Shape a sock toe
• Use the 3-needle bind off or Kitchener Stitch to graft the toe stitches.

Shirley Paden At Wooly Monmouth: Stranded Knitting Event Details

An internationally recognized hand knitwear designer, Shirley Paden’s designs and articles have appeared in magazines such as Vogue Knitting, Interweave Knits, Interweave Crochet, Knitters, Family Circle, and Knit it as well as in the collections of leading yarn companies. For the last 18 years, Shirley has taught and lectured on various aspects of hand knitting and crochet locally, nationally and internationally.

In this class students will learn how to knit a color piece using the “Stranded” method of color knitting. This is the method used in creating Fair Isle, Scandinavian and South American color work.

Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of knitting

Shirley Paden At Wooly Monmouth: The Finishing Touch Event Details

An internationally recognized hand knitwear designer, Shirley Paden’s designs and articles have appeared in magazines such as Vogue Knitting, Interweave Knits, Interweave Crochet, Knitters, Family Circle, and Knit it as well as in the collections of leading yarn companies. For the last 18 years, Shirley has taught and lectured on various aspects of hand knitting and crochet locally, nationally and internationally.

In this class students will learn professional garment finishing and assembling techniques. It is for hand knitters at all levels. It is taught in an easy step-by-step hands-on format. The goal is to have each student begin to master the skills involved in producing a perfectly finished wearable garment.

The techniques taught include: several types of seaming, several ways of attaching sleeves, stitch pick-up for borders and necklines, making vertical and horizontal buttonholes, and weaving in yarn.

Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of knitting

Making Mittens! Event Details

Want to progress beyond a scarf, but aren't ready to tackle a sweater? If so, Mittens are the answer. Mittens are quick projects, yet they require beyond basic skills to complete. In this three hour class you will:

Learn to knit in the round, on double-pointed needles or using Magic Loop Method
Create a thumb gusset which involves picking up and increasing stitches
Decrease in the round
Perform the three-needle bind off
