Just Bead It

Filed under: Uncategorized — Dori @ 11:45 am

It’s been pretty tough for me to schedule classes these days since I have had the baby.  Sundays are quickly becoming “family day” in the Kershner household and have thus left little time for knitting classes.  I am so proud to have the very talented Lise Patterson joining me in teaching some interesting classes.  Lise will be teaching the upcoming Socks and Fixing Mistakes classes.  In addition, she has some great techniques to show us on knitting with beads.  That class will be held on April 6th from 2pm-4pm.  We are currently working up some terrific swatches with luxury yarns and will post them when they are complete.  I am also going to try a pattern for a necklace which will be a terrific summer project and a terribly inexpensive gift.  I imagine one ball will make many, many gifts.  More to follow!

Three Times a Charm

I know it’s time to write about a sweater when 3 customers have all made it!  This sweater originated as a blanket.  Joyce came in and was looking for something different for a “non-traditional” mom.  We made the sweater up as we went along, using the stitch pattern from my daughter Andie’s blanket.  Cotton Classic in bright colors worked for the spring.  Then Ella came in and was searching for something interesting that was a little challenging.  We loved her slightly sophisticated grey & red version for the fall with Zara Merino.  When Gail saw what her friend Ella made, she opted for the same exact pattern, using a trendier color combination of brown and pink.  We love each of these versions and decided that if 3 different people liked this sweater, you might too!  Enjoy!Joyce’s SweaterGail’s SweaterElla’s Sweater

Jana in Rowan Calmer

Now that the superbowl sale is out of the way, it’s time to bring on Spring yarns!  We’ve gotten in the new Rowan Magazine #43 and it looks great!  We’ve also decided to bring back Calmer from Rowan.  The yarn hasn’t even been stocked and it’s been flying out of the boxes!  I am starting a great sweater, hoping to finish in the next couple weeks…pictures will follow.

For those of you who were disappointed to see that Classic Elite Star was discontinued, we have a new alternative.  Cascade Fixation is very similar, and even comes in spray-dyed colors.  We love this yarn for baby items, and I will probably make a skirt for Andie for the summer.  Another project for the queue…
